Hans Leonhardt Obituary

Hans J. Leonhardt Sr., 71, formerly of Hanover, died Monday, Aug. 8, 2005, in a hospital in Germany, where he has lived for the past five years with his companion, Hanalore Hoehne. Born March 29, 1934, in Germany, he was the son of the late Jacob and Agnes Leonhardt. After moving to Hanover in 1956, he was a tool and die maker by trade and founded Leonhardt Manufacturing Co. Inc. in 1970. He retired from the company in 1995. He is survived by three sons, Peter J. Leonhardt of Hanover, Hans J. Leonhardt Jr. of New Oxford and Michael J. Leonhardt of Duluth, Ga.; three grandchildren, Jessica Mobley and Alexi and Amanda Leonhardt, all of Hanover. He is also survived by two sisters, Helga Geiman of Thomasville and Herta Keeble of Gore, Va., and two brothers, Heinz Leonhardt of Elk Grove, Calif., and Helmut Leonhardt of Hanover. He had a third degree black belt in Shotokan Karate. He enjoyed bicycling and also hiking in Switzerland. Following cremation in Germany, funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.

I knew Hans from when I was just a little guy. Thanks for all the memories with my dad, John Hilbert. Hans...You will be missed. God Speed.
