Lucille Davis Obituary

Luki Davis died peacefully at Vitas Hospice on October 30, 2015, on Merritt Island, FL, at age 76, after a long struggle with cancer. Luki was born on October 1, 1939, in Tsingtao, China, the daughter of Eugenia and Donald O. Brosseau, Sr. an executive for British-American Tobacco Company. She was married to Captain Richard Davis, USN (Ret) for 53 years. Luki attended the Punahou School in Honolulu, HI, and San Diego State College in San Diego, CA, graduating with a pre-law bachelor's degree. She was a social worker for the city of San Diego and for the city of Seattle, WA. She was a wonderful Navy wife, mother, nana, and Navy Relief volunteer as well as an amateur tennis player and Silver Life Master in Duplicate Bridge.
Luki is survived by her husband Richard; by her sons Brian (Christy) of Washington DC, and Duane (Joni Oppasser) of Westchester, PA; her three grandchildren William and Kathryn Davis and Reid Davis, and brother Donald O. Brosseau, Jr. of Los Angeles, CA.
Luki will be remembered in a private ceremony. The family thanks the staff at Vitas Hospice Care for their care and support. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Navy and Marine Corps Relief Society, with which Luki served, would be welcome. Arrangements have been entrusted to Beckman-Williamson Funeral Homes and Crematory, Viera, FL, 635-1973.

I was deeply saddened to learn of Luki's death. She was the wife of my husband's ship's captain when their ship was stationed in Japan. I was a newlywed at the time, and besides missing my husband, whose ship was often deployed far away, was little acquainted with the US Navy's policies and practices. Luki organized get-togethers with other "Navy wives." She was extremely helpful and funny and made those years much more bearable than they would have been otherwise. I did correspond with her from time to time over the years, but now I feel bad that we never met in person again, and never will. I wish condolences to her family whom I know, she loved to pieces.
