Vera Adams Obituary

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Village Chapel for Mrs. Vera Colvard Adams, 96, who died September 9, 2011. The Revs. Mahlon Felkin, Bill Parker and Tommy Turner will officiate. Burial will be at Henagar Cemetery. Village Chapel Funeral Home and Cremation Services is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Vera Colvard Adams, beloved aunt and friend of many, died at 96 years of age on Friday, Sept. 9, 2011, in her longtime residence on Cleveland Court in Gadsden. She was born on May 23, 1915, to Early and Eunice Brown Colvard. She was the third of 14 children in a family who, through their loving and joyful relationships, passed to their families the gift of what a true loving, caring and happy family life should be.
Mrs. Vera, Aunt Vee or Mrs. Adams, whatever the name she was known by, was the epitome of what the terms class, love and selflessness mean. She was the Christian role model that anyone who knew her would aspire to become, but was the model that none of us could ever hope to attain. She was held in such high esteem by all who knew her, and no one could ever fill that place in this world. The love and the fun experienced through the lives of her family will never be the same because of the void she left. However saddened with her leaving us, we all rejoice with her as she goes to her Heavenly home to reunite with her husband, Chester, and the many family members who have gone before her to prepare the place for her! What a reunion there must be today, what joy and songs of praise that must be going up throughout Heaven. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Adams; parents, Mr. and Mrs. E.G. Colvard; her sisters, Mabel Horton, Ruby Weaver, Earline Colvard Wheeler, Wilma Rooks, Mildred Howse, Esther Scisson and Jewell Colvard; and brothers, Bill Colvard, Donald Colvard, E.G. Colvard, Ray Colvard and Willard Colvard.
Mrs. Adams is survived by one sister, Betty Turner, Pisgah; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 this evening at the funeral home.
