HAROLD MONK Obituary
Harold L. Monk, III died suddenly on Tuesday December 6, 2011. He was 42. Born in Gainesville, he graduated from Buchholz High School in 1987. He later went on to play football for the University of Florida as a long snapper, graduating in 1993. Harold owned and operated Gator Spirits and Fine Wines since 1998, and he also became a realtor with Minneola Realty last year.
He is survived by his wife, Harmony Gonzalez Monk; his two daughters, Olivia Harper Monk and Lauren Elizabeth Monk; his parents, Harold, Jr. and Marlene Monk; his brother and sister-in-law Chris and Wynette Blanton Monk; his nieces, Ashley and Alexis Monk; and numerous friends. Harold was a phenomenal husband, father, son, and brother, and an outstanding humanitarian. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
The family will receive friends at Milam Funeral Home in Newberry on Friday December 9 from 5 until 7PM. A Funeral Mass will be held at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 10900 SW 24th AVE, on Saturday at 11:30AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions please be made to the Harold Monk Memorial Fund (scholarship fund for children), c/o the Law Offices of Stephen K. Miller, P.A., 101 NW 75th ST, Ste. 1, Gainesville, Florida 32607.

To the monk family,
May God bless you and keep you at this very difficult time. I only knew Harold briefly, but he made quite an impression on me! We bought our wine, champagne, beer, & liquor for our December 4th wedding from him. He was so professional, affable....Mr. Congeniality! I just want you to know that he has touched so many people, even if just briefly. What a wonderful man! I'm so sorry for your loss. May you always be blessed with peace, comfort, and strength.

His passing is very sad. I knew Harold as a UFADP SCUBA instructor.I taught with him and remember his smiling face. He was always full of energy, humor, and careing for others. He strived for excellence in teaching his students. I soon found out that he was center for the Gator football team. I was frankly amazed that he was able to do both with such excellence and care. He was unique, strong and wonderful person to have known. I am sorry for your loss.

I taught SCUBA with Harold at the UFADP back in 1996 and 1997. Although we lost touch over the years, I have many vivid memories of him. He was one of the kindest, sincere, professional, and gentle people I had ever met.
Harmony, I'm truly sorry for your loss, but I assure you Harold touched everyone he met over the years.

I have worked at Davis, Monk Financial Group & Davis Monk & Company and have delt with Harold on many occassions ordering wine for all the wine tasting events they hold. He was an awesome person to be around and I loved Harmoney and the girls!!! His Dad and whole family are stand up people and my heart just breaks for them!!! I'm so sorry to hear of Harold's passing. He was a year younger than me at Buchholz high school and we had some mutual friends. I didn't know him well, but I was always impressed with how friendly he was, and always seemed to be smiling. I met him when he was in 11th grade and he was a big strong guy with a lot going for him and yet was completely unassuming. My deepest condolonces.

Harmony, Mr and Mrs Monk and family, I am so saddened by Harold's passing. I went to High School with him and always remember that huge smile. I used to watch him play football, both in high school and at Florida! He was a wonderful, kind and funny man! He was so proud of his family, especially his 2 girls. We only communicated via email in recent years since I have moved away and I will miss that!
