Jan. 1, 1936 - Sept. 10, 2014
Nancy Ruth Sutter, 78, of Albany passed away on Sept. 10 at her home, after a long battle with cancer.
Nancy was born in Astoria to Clay M. Agee and Anna J. (Iverson) Agee. She and twin brother Paul "Bill" Agee were the first twins ever born on New Year's Day in Astoria. They were specially named by doctors. The two of them made headlines when they became lost in the Tillamook Forest for 33 hours at age 3. They were found by their family dog, after hundreds failed to locate them.
Nancy grew up in the Elsie, Jewell and Forest Grove areas. There she attended high school, and worked in the family's market until she married Dale Dover in 1954. They had three children and later divorced. In 1965, she married Dana Campbell, and one child was born of the marriage. They also divorced.
On April 10, 1976, Nancy married the love of her life, Kenneth Sutter of Alsea. They made a beautiful home there for more than 26 years, then moved to Albany in 2004.
Nancy enjoyed many things in life, and was a wonderful artist, selling many paintings in shops along the Oregon Coast. She loved to collect angels and bells. Her favorite pastimes were bowling, bingo and playing cards with the family. Most of all she loved her children.
She enjoyed outdoor activities and visiting with son Randy about his travels and work. She took many trips with son Dana, discovering Hawaii, Yellowstone, Mt. Rushmore and other areas. Nancy enjoyed time with daughter Cindy, going shopping, having lunch out and hearing about her church activities. She enjoyed playing bingo with daughter Tamie, and listening to her sing with her band; and the Albany Eagles Lodge, where she and Ken enjoyed socializing and dancing for many years.
Nancy is survived by mother Anna Peyton and brother Ronald Agee of McMinnville; brother Gilbert Agee of Roseburg; daughters Cindy Taylor of Albany and Tamie Williams of Salina, Oklahoma; son Dana Campbell of Lebanon; 15 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; nieces, nephews and many friends.
Nancy was preceded in death by father Clay; husband Kenneth; brothers Bill and Chuck; sister Darlene; son Randy; and grandson Harley.
A celebration of life will take place at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 21, at the Albany Eagles Lodge.
