Lee Beard Obituary

SAN ANGELO Lee J. Beard passed away Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, at the age of 87. A Memorial Service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013, at the First United Methodist Church, 37 E. Beauregard, San Angelo, Texas. A reception will be held immediately following the Memorial Service at the First United Methodist Church. Lee J. was born July 7, 1926, to Homer Virgil Jones and Rosalene Elizabeth Jones of Wichita Falls. She graduated from Wichita Falls High School and then graduated from business college in Wichita Falls. Lee J. worked as a secretary for many years at City Savings and Loan Association. Lee J. was proud to be a true Texan. Her great-great-grandfather William Wells died at the Alamo. Lee J. was involved with Beta Sigma Phi and bridge clubs, was a longtime member at FUMC San Angelo, enjoyed crossword puzzles, and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. Lee J. was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother Marie Jones; brother Grady Jones; father of her sons Ken Eschman; and stepson George Edward Beard. She is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, Lee Beard; sons Rick Eschman and wife Tete of Houston and Kurt Eschman and wife Virginia of San Angelo; grandchildren Jeff Eschman and wife Jill of Houston, Kristen Eschman and daughter Lucy of Dallas, and Chawndra Eschman and daughter Maggie of Stillwater, Okla. Lee J. is also survived by her sister, Sylvia Jones of Fort Worth; stepson Robert Beard of San Angelo; and nephew Aubrey Jones and wife Xan and their daughter Rikki Martinez of Ransom Canyon. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation be made in Lee J.'s memory to Hospice of San Angelo or Concho Valley Home for Girls. David and I treasure the visit we had with you, Lee, and Lee J. last June. Dressed -- as always -- beautifully, she was in her "off chemo" week and was doing well, with her positive attitude and jokes about her "yummy" wheat grass breakfast smoothies, grown from your little wheat grass garden. Lee J. was a wonderful lady and often reminded me of your Mother, our dear Aunt Otella, who always was so sweet and gracious. . .both were true ladies. Diana and I also appreciate the close friendship you and Lee J. had with our parents and the joy all your visits and fun times brought to them. We share your loss. Please find comfort in knowing that you and your family are in our daily thoughts and prayers.
