Billy, his brother Jack, Norman and I grew up together in the bronx. We played endless games of stickball, basketball and all other Bronx street games. Billy, Jack & I walked to high school together (Evander Childs). We drank beer at Hank's bar before the army. We were stationed at Fort Benning together and I spent every weekend at his off base house. I asked Billy to be in my wedding party but he was going to college in Colorado. Always knew he was going to be a huge success since he was a leader even when we were kids. I'll always have fond memories of our youth. I'm so sorry for your loss and even though I haven't seen Billy in almost 60 years, I feel like I lost a part of my family. 219th street and Bronx park forever. Tom Flynn

Bill was a friend of our brother, Clint in Viet Nam. My two sisters and I met him when we attended the Rolling Thunder Run in D.C. in 2019. He presented each of us a framed photo of the last picture taken of our brother. We have great love and appreciation for Bill who went out of his way to present to each of the framed photo, but he also took the time to talk to us and answer questions we had about our brother's last days. We are forever grateful to Bill.

What a great man, we will miss you and your wonderful smile. Always there to help all who needed him. I can remember especially how wonderful he was to his family and friends. I remember how wonderful he was to his loving wife Barb, bringing her lunch every day as she worked cutting hair , with a kiss and off he would be with a smile To your family we send our love, prayers and know that Our Heavenly Father will have a special angel with him, Amen.

I worked for Bill at the U.S. Department of Commerce, Office of Inspector General, Denver Regional Office, for about 20 years. We had a lot of good times on audit trips, office parties, etc. Bill talked glowingly to me about his wife and two sons. He challenged me to start running, which I still do to this day. My condolences to Bill's family and friends.

Barbara and the Suhre family: please accept the condolences of the veterans of the 11th Armored Cavalry - the 11th's veterans of Vietnam and Cambodia. Bill was one of us, one of our own. William R. Suhre will be well remembered as an honorable trooper and conscientious Patrol Leader in Vietnam; whose very presence brought comfort and support to his fellow troopers. Bill extended that care through the last many years of service to the 11th ACVVC and for his fellow veterans of Vietnam and Cambodia. He will be included on the honor roll of combat veterans, as his Purple Heart, the Silver Star and Bronze Star highlights his bravery and valor. We have no piece of metal to show appreciation for the care and dedication he offered his fellow veterans through his long years of service to the Board of Directors for the 11th Cavalry's Veterans of Vietnam and Cambodia, but as grateful Americans, we should all pause and salute a man who was willing to put his life on the line for his country and fellow man. As our burial liturgy states: "his life has not ended, merely changed ..." and as we were together then, we will be together again in the life hereafter, warmly embraced in the arms of our Heavenly Father. Chaplain Bill, 11th ACVVC

It has been an honor to know Mr. Suhre for nearly 20 years. He hired me in the first law firm I ever worked in and later became a client of mine. He believed in me, kept me on the straight and narrow with the numbers and was my mentor. I am so proud to have worked with and, for him. I am truly saddened that he is no longer here on earth with the rest of us but I know he is still watching over everyone and will be in our hearts. God speed to you Mr. Suhre and thank you for everything.

Col. Suhre was a wealth of stories, experiences, advice and good fun. He lit up every room, lived life on his terms, and could make friends with anyone. I appreciate every opportunity I had to be in his company.
