Edna Lydia Malinda Wernsing

DECATUR - Edna Lydia Malinda Wernsing, 98, of Decatur, formerly of Harvel, died Tues., Mar. 27, 2012 at 1:20 a.m. in Fair Havens Christian Home in Decatur. She was born on Oct. 16, 1913 in Farmersville, a daughter of Charles & Minnie (Brockmeyer) Nobbe. She married Walter Edward Wernsing on Dec. 8, 1938 in Ames, IA. He preceded her in death on Sept. 22, 1967. She was a homemaker & farm wife all of her life. Mrs. Wernsing was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Harvel where she was a member of Ladies Aid. In her leisure time, she enjoyed playing Pinochle and going to the coffee shop in Harvel. She is survived by: 1 daughter, Lois K. (Dennis) Miller of Decatur; 4 grandchildren, Vanessa (Eric) Arn of Vienna, Austria; Christian (Alison) VanZant of Austin, TX; Mitchell (Rebecca) VanZant of Forsyth; Daniel (Shara) VanZant of Johnson City, TN; 4 great grandchildren, Lynzee, Lauren & Landon VanZant of Forsyth; Calvin VanZant of Austin, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter; 1 brother, Allen Nobbe; 2 sisters, Vera Podshadley & Inza Nobbe, in infancy. Funeral services will be held Sat., Mar. 31, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. in Trinity Lutheran Church in Harvel. Rev. Scott Busacker will officiate. Burial will be in Harvel Cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday from 12:00 p.m. until time of service in the church. The family suggests memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church in Harvel.
