Allen Lanier Obituary

EDGEMOOR - Mr. Forrest Allen Lanier, 71, of 4256 Edgeland Road, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2009, at his home.

Graveside services will be 3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, 2009, at Lando Cemetery, with the Revs. Edward Harris and Kenny Compton officiating.

A native of Blacksburg, S.C., Allen was a son of the late Jim and Ollie Batchler. He was an avid cook, hunter and fisherman and retired from Manetta Mills, where he worked as a fixer for over 25 years.

Surviving are his wife, Carol Dixon Lanier of the home; his son, Tracy Lanier of the home; two daughters, Leslie Bennett and her husband, Christopher, of Edgemoor and Brittney Lanier and her companion, James Love, of the home; two brothers, Jack Lanier and his wife, Henrietta, of Catawba, S.C., and Harvey Lanier and his wife, Jean, of Mebane, N.C.; his sister, Carol Funderburk and her husband, Jack, of Rock Hill, S.C.; and two grandchildren, Kaleb Love and Karlie Love, both of the home. In addition to his parents, Allen was preceded in death by his daughter, Janet Denise Lanier and his brother, James Lanier.

The family will receive friends at Greene Funeral Home Downtown Chapel from 6 to 7:30 p.m. today, Feb. 25, 2009, and other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
