James (Jim) London Ingram

Durham, North Carolina - Mr. James London Ingram, 90, passed away on Sunday, April 4, 2021 after an extended illness. Jim was born in Durham on August 8, 1930 to the late James Vernon and Lucille Jones Ingram. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by sisters Curlee Ingram Cooley Smith and Patsy Ingram Sykes, son-in-law Grady Elliott and grandson Thomas Moore. He attended Mars Hill College and served his country in the United States Navy from 1950 – 1954 during the Korean War. For many years he served the Durham County Board of Elections and was on the board of the Bethesda Volunteer Fire Department. He was a retired Forest Ranger with the NC State Forestry Service.
Mr. Ingram spent many joyful hours hunting, boating and fishing with family and friends. He especially loved the time they all spent at Harker's Island, NC and fishing for flounder at Cape Lookout.
Mr. Ingram is survived by his wife of 66 years, Catherine Griffin Ingram, sister Emma Jean Ingram Phelps, daughters Elaine Ingram Watkins and Judy Ingram Elliott-Moore (Dwight), six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
The family is being assisted by Cremation Society of the Carolinas. No service is planned at this time but a memorial service to celebrate his life will be planned at a future time.
Special thanks are given to caregivers Sierra Hurdle and Joyce Jordan who assisted the family with his care over the last several months.
