1926-2020
Nell Black, age 93, passed away peacefully Saturday, the 7th of March 2020.
She is survived by her son, Barry Black and wife, Carolyn; her granddaughter, Tracey Kirkpatrick and husband, Tom; her grandson, Troy Black; her grandchildren, Carson, Connor and Lillian Kirkpatrick and numerous nieces. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of more than 50 years, Herman Black and her grandson, Scott Black.
Those honored to serve as Honorary Pallbearers are Tom Kirkpatrick, Carson Kirkpatrick, Connor Kirkpatrick, Lillian Kirkpatrick, Barney Cearley and Fred Sander.
An interment service is to be conducted at eleven o'clock in the morning on Friday, the 13th of March, at Emanu El Memorial Park Cemetery, 8341 Bissonnet Street in Houston.
A celebration of life and reception will be held at one o'clock in the afternoon also on Friday, the 13th of March, at The Forum, 777 Post Oak Road in Houston.

I was so sorry to learn of the passing of Nell, or Nellie as she was sometimes called. She truly was a gracious, kind and lovely lady. My husband and I knew Nell and Herman when we lived in the Clear Lake area many years ago. She and I were in the Temple sisterhood together. I had the honor and pleasure of sitting next to her at her 80th Birthday party. We kept in touch for a while after she moved to Houston. Unfortunately, I had not spoken to her in the last few years. I truly adored her, and she and Herman were such a cute couple. I am sad to hear of her death, but she and Herman are reunited; I am sure they are happy to be together again. My heartfelt condolences to the family.

I was truly saddened to read of the passing of this wonderful lady.
We worked together at Exxon, but we also played together at their "bayhouse", lunched together and kept up with each other by email and "snail" mail. I had not heard from her in a long while, even though I reached out to her and feared she might be in ill health.
I was a young girl starting my Exxon career when I met Nell, and she was extremely supportive and an effective mentor. I will forever appreciate her kindness and her wonderful wit that made some stressful days bearable.
