Robert Manegre Obituary

ROBERT FRANCIS MANEGRE, age 64, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, February 13, 2005 after a valiant 5 month battle with cancer. He is survived by wife of 40 years, Jayne; daughter Margaret Manegre-Offill, daughter and son-in-law Kimberly and Shane Schultz; and Papa's loving granddaughters, Stacy Lane, Kasi and Sydney Schultz. He is also survived by Sister Judy Josendahl and Brother Richard Manegre. Robert was born in Springfield, Massachusetts on December 15, 1940. He served in the U.S. Navy, and as a 2 term President of the Jaycees. Also know as "Papa", he has been a Do-Dad for his granddaughters' Girl Scout troops - often seen wearing a twilight camp shirt and carrying cookie boxes. He was honored, along with his wife and daughters, with the Family Award by Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council. Robert was most recently employed by the City of Baytown. Among his most memorable moments are riding the Battleship Texas to berth and visiting Disneyworld with his wife and family for their 40th Anniversary. Special thanks to the nursing staffs of 2 South-East Houston Regional Medical Center, Anthony in St. Luke's ICU, and Heather and Adrienne (his ambulance girls), Dr. Hellerstein & Texas Oncology, the staff of San Jacinto Methodist Cancer Center, and Dr. Shahar. Viewing will be held at Rosewood Funeral Home in Humble on Tuesday, February 15, 2005 from 5-9 p.m. Funeral Services are scheduled for 12:00 noon Wednesday, February 16, 2005 at Rosewood Funeral Home Chapel. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Robert's name to the American Cancer Society in hopes of a faster cure would be appreciated.

Another angel is going home. Amen. My deepest sympathy goes out to the family of this dear man. Know that he is going home to be with our Lord Jesus Christ. For this journey we must all take, and each must go alone. It's all the part of the Master's plan. A step on the road to home. When you are lonely and sick of heart, go to the friends you know and bury your sorrow in doing good deeds; Miss him, but let him go.

Bob was a kind gentleman. In my many years of knowing him, this is the best way I know to describe him - a true gentleman. You knew how much he loved his family just by watching them together. We will miss him but the many good memories we have of him will stay with us forever.
