Gale Anderson Obituary

Gale Yancey Anderson, 90, our beloved father, brother and friend, passed from our presence at home in Chubbuck, Idaho, on July 19, 2024. He joined his wife, LaJuan, whom he has sorely missed for the past 19 years.

Gale was born on March 5, 1934 to Jared and Sylvia Anderson in Pocatello, Idaho. Gale entered an already large family of sister Alice and brothers Melvin, Paul, Mark and Carl and was then joined by brother Joel four years later. Two years after that, Sylvia and baby sister Celia passed away. The family was soon blessed by Alice Haroldsen who for Gale became "That Wonderful Mother of Mine." In 1942 he was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Later that year the family welcomed youngest brother John.

The family lived on Yellowstone Highway and LaJuan's family moved into the ward while she was young. They became childhood sweethearts; she stole his heart and never gave it back. Gale graduated from Pocatello High School in 1952 and then attended BYU until he received his mission call to Uruguay. After his mission he graduated from BYU with a bachelor's degree in Mathematics.

Gale and LaJuan were married in the Idaho Falls temple and lived in Twin Falls, Pocatello and Inkom, before moving to Illinois, where Gale completed a master's degree in Mechanical Engineering. After graduate school the family returned to Idaho and built their home on Whitaker Road.

Throughout his life Gale was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in numerous callings such as Stake Superintendent of M.I.A., Branch Presidency Counselor, Bishop, High Counselor and most recently as Stake Patriarch. Gale and LaJuan fulfilled a mission in the Family and Church History Mission, Salt Lake City, Utah.

After his father retired from AnderSons, Inc., Gale owned and managed the company for almost 40 years until turning over the business to his son Klane. Gale remained actively involved in the business and continued to work there the rest of his life.

Gale was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, his sisters and five brothers. He is survived by a younger brother, six children, 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Friday, August 9 at 11 a.m. at the Pocatello LDS North Stake Center, 4890 Whitaker Road. The family will receive friends Thursday, August 8 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wilks Funeral Home, 211 W. Chubbuck Road, and Friday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.

I am so sorry for your loss Klane. I didn't know your Dad very well, but knowing you tells me that he was a great man! My thoughts and prayers are with you, Kelley, and your kids!

Gale Anderson was a mighty man with strength of character and spirit and an example of Christ like love and service. I had the privilege of growing up in 25th ward with he and his family. He was not a man of many words but I still remember receiving my patriarchal blessing from him at 17 and knowing his love of the Savior and his calling. He and LaJuan raised a great family and I have always loved the way he cared for Richard especially. My deepest love and sympathy to all of the family in their grief but what a reunion on the other side of the veil. Much love from all of the Durrant family.
