I am truly blessed. The father of my father lived a life of such strength, I can only hope to attain a small portion of his measure. Few on this earth can boast such quiet confidence of this man among men. As a man, he accomplished many feats; motorcycle racer as a young fellow, genius of mechanics in a time of war, builder of futures in a time of plenty, and most importantly, a man of family.

My grandfather always made the sacrifice for the greater good. Life to him was not about the personal need, but the need of those around and close. A man of few words but important actions, he set the utmost template of the true American man. He gave of himself to provide the ultimate example of the ideals that we all hold dear.

Grandpa was a man of principle, but also a man of sensitivity. He set for everyone who knew him a pinnacle of achievement, but also a plateau of caring. He gave the children the utmost care, providing both leadership and guidance only possible of a true hero. Only a man of grand character could claim such a life as he.

Although I was gifted to receive his wisdom as a growing child, I regret not having known his greatness as I should have as a young adult. Now as a grown adult I revel in the knowledge that I was able to relate my true appreciation of him before his passing.

In a moment that only he and I can understand, I had the fated opportunity to express to him my appreciation of his contribution to my life. For that I will be forever grateful. Hero, builder, father, man. You will be missed.

Pitt was my Grandpa and the most important man in my life from day one. I don't know anyone that met him and didn't like him. Grandma Betty and all of their kids, grandkids, great-grandkids and great-great-grandkids were truly blessed to have had him in our lives and for as long as we did. He lived for all the little ones and enjoyed every second he had with each and every one of them. I cannot wait to see him again one day at the feet of Jesus. Thank you, Lord, for sharing one of your greatest children with the world and for blessing me with his love. ~ Ami

We were the proud parents of Kevin, a toddler, when Pitt and Ed Brilz removed our kitchen and added a 2-story addition to our Warm Springs home. Pitt often had a pipe between his teeth--and a gentle smile--when he saw Kevin. Ed & Pitt didn't mind our little son putting his toy work box next to theirs to hammer with his plastic tools next to their real ones. They were a skilled team, Pitt & Ed. I treasure knowing them and think of them admiringly every time I look up at our perfectly constructed cedar ceiling.
