Janis Ryder Scharnhorst, fondly known as "Jan", age 84 of Pascagoula, MS passed away February 7, 2014. She was born December 16, 1929 in Kansas City, Missouri.
She and her late husband were founding members of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pascagoula.
She was preceded in death by her mother Moeta West, husband Robert "Bob" and brother Vincent Paul Ryder.
She is survived by her three children, Steve (Vicki), Lori Kilgore (Mike) and Vince, grandchildren, Kristy Rogers (Mark), Ryan Kilgore (fiancée Jan), Leslie Kelley (Joey), and Matthew Kilgore (Elise); great grandchildren, Jacob Kelley, Andrew Kilgore and Gabby Jenifer, lifelong friends and neighbors John and June Trehern and second daughter Sheila Seymour. She also leaves behind "Toolie" her beloved dog.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 10, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pascagoula, where friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until the service. Interment will follow at Griffin Cemetery, Moss Point.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church Building Fund.
The family wishes to thank We Care Hospice for the final care of our beloved mother.
