Chris was born in Salt Lake City, UT, to Billie Mignon Griffin and Robert Elmer Hawks on Apr. 5, 1951; and passed away on May 15, 2016 in Upland, CA. He is survived by his wife, Catherine Hawks; daughter, Katiann (Jason) Carey; brother, Patrick Hawks; sister, Carlin Kempton; nieces Tracey (Alex) Hall and Kari Kempton; and nephews Travis Hawks and Jeffrey (Chelsea) Kempton. Chris was preceded in death by his father, Robert Hawks; his son, Corby Hawks; and his nephew, Jonathan Kempton. Chris was a private pilot for over 20 years; he taught high school for 23 years primarily in Pomona, CA; and served in the U.S. Marine Corps from Apr. 1970 to Nov. 1971. He received his B.A. in Psychology and Economics at the University of La Verne and his M.S. in Psychology/Counseling at Cal State Fullerton. He was also a brick mason; he loved fast cars (owning over 50 cars in his life), boats and motorcycles, all of which he would build and rebuild; he was extremely generous in providing assistance to others and always quick to offer a smile and a few kind words; he could fix almost anything; he loved to read, build model airplanes, and use his WWII flight simulator. A memorial service will be held at Todd Memorial Chapel, 570 North Garey Avenue, Pomona, on Sat., May 21 at 11:00 a.m.
