Maxine Lovell Obituary

OAKLAND - Maxine M. Lovell, age 90 of Oakland, passed away at 10:30 a.m., Monday, August 10, 2009 at Charleston Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Charleston. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 14, 2009 at Standard Funeral Home in Oakland, with Reverend Robert E. Lee and Reverend Kent Conover officiating. Burial will be in Embarrass Cemetery, north of Redmon. Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, August 13 at Standard Funeral Home in Oakland. Maxine Maud was born on July 1, 1919 in Arcola, Illinois, the daughter of Elmer L. Hallowell, Sr. and Lula Faye Dorris Hallowell. She was raised primarily in the Oakland and Charleston area, and attended several country schools. On December 22, 1936 she married James Clayton Lovell in Oakland. He preceded her in death on March 12, 1993. Survivors include two sons, Dean Lovell and wife Judy of Tuscola, and Wayne Lovell and wife Kay of Effingham; one grandson, Alan Lovell of Effingham; one granddaughter, Marilyn Koester and husband Rob of The Woodlands, Texas; three great-grandchildren, Trenton, Haley, and Grace Koester; two sisters, Mildred Davis of Charleston, and Betty Shaffer of Arcola; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, one granddaughter Darla Lovell, and one brother Elmer Hallowell, Jr. Maxine had worked for over 35 years as a floor supervisor in the fitting department of Brown Shoe Company. She attended Oak Grove Baptist Church, and Antioch Baptist Church. Maxine loved camping, working in her flowers, her dog Silver Sue, and had a close personal relationship with her Lord. A memorial fund is being established for either the Oak Grove Baptist Church, or the Gideons.
