My condolences. I only met him a few times but enjoyed the talks we had. He will be missed, but not forgotten. He did some great work and will be remembered. As railroading was a passion we shared. Perry.

I was so sorry to hear of Mr. S's passing. He was my homeroom teacher for 4th, 5th and 6th grade at Grandview Elementary in El Dorado, and I was also fortunate to have his wife as my 1st and 2nd grade teacher. I can still see him running across the soccer fields with us at recess. I wish my children could be as fortunate as I was to have such a fine teacher. He was, without doubt, the most inspiring teacher I had; he challenged his students to learn, rather than making it easy for us. I think we have all benfited from that. He will be missed.

I was blessed to have Mr. S as my teacher for the 4th, 5th and 6th grade at Grandview Elementary in El Dorado. He was by far one of the most influential teachers in my life. He was able to bring things we studied to life. The Discovery channel has nothing on how he could take a concept from a textbook and draw us into learning. Moreso than the things we learned in class were the things he taught us about living as a part of our community. Anyone else remember "credits" and around the world? :) Mr S truly made a difference in so many lives. I can only thank his family for sharing him with all of us.

Dear Lynda and children,
I was truly sorry to hear of Fred's death. He was a good friend and taught me a lot of electric railroad history. I especially loved to hear his stories of the days when he was a locomotive fireman on his beloved Pennsy GG-1s. Blessed are those who mourn for they shall be comforted.

I had Mr. Sasovetz for 4th grade at Washington School in El Dorado in 1972. He was a very fun teacher. I remember him having a car he loved that he had a custom cover for. My thoughts are with his family and friends.

I was so saddened to see that Mr. S.(as we called him at Grandview School in El Dorado), has passed away. He was my 5th grade teacher in 1976. It is very seldom that a child has a teacher that really enjoys their job and shows it. He would even play soccer with us at recess. He always walked with a bounce in his step and a smile on his face. He always had the neatest projects for us to do, especially in Geography, we got to make volcanoes! We had gerbils in our class room, which of course had babies. I have always wondered where he had gone and if those kids were having as much fun learning from him as we did. He was a wonderful man. When my son was in grade school, in the back of my mind, I compared his teachers to Mr. S and had wished that he would have had someone like him to inspire my son to learn. We were lucky to have him touch our lives. My prayers are with the family.

I was one of his 5 th grade students at Kellogg Elementary School. He was an excellent teacher. I was surprised to hear that he had passed away. I am truly sorry for your loss.

Oh my, I am so very sorry for your loss. I was one of Mr. Sasovetz's students, in El Dorado, fifth grade, 1975. I remember him walking through the class with his "pointer stick" and if I wasn't holding my pencil properly, he'd 'sneak' up the row of desks behind me, and WHACK the desk and remind me to hold that pencil right!
Mr S. was a fantastic teacher, even in the very beginning...I feel fortunate that I received education from him. Catherine (Cathy) Edwards
