CHARLES R. HAUER

Charles R. Hauer, 83, Raytown, MO, passed away April 10, 2011. He was born in Independence, MO, on September 20, 1927. He was a graduate of Central High School and University of Richmond. Charles was a gunnery sergeant in the US Marine Corps serving in both WWII as a "China" Marine and in Korea. He was awarded the purple-heart. He worked in the telecommunications industry and he and his wife owned Greater KC Communications. He was a founding member and Commander of VFW Post 6840 and later a member of 4242. He served as VFW District Commander and he was State Commander for the Cooties. He was a member of the Marine Corps League, and Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, where he was a Lector. Charles is survived by his wife, Greta; sister, Betty Dickerson; son, Robert Hauer (Becky); daughter, Karen (Jim) Goering; daughter, Kathleen (David) Marker; stepchildren, Dr. Stephen (Faith) Paoni, Dr. Chris Paoni, Tracie Zubeck; 13 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Thursday, April 14, 2011 at Our Lady of Lourdes, Raytown, MO, from 6-8:30 p.m., Rosary at 8 p.m. Mass will be Friday, April 15, 2011 at 11 a.m., at the Church.
