DR. DAVID LOUIS DEFEO

1943 - 2016

Dr. David Louis DeFeo, 73, Kansas City, Mo., passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2016, at the University of Kansas Medical Center, Kansas City, Kan. Memorial service will be 11:30 a.m. Monday, May 23, at the Village Presbyterian Church, 6641 Mission Road, Prairie Village, KS 66208, followed by a luncheon. Private inurnment will be in the Monticello Union Cemetery, Shawnee, Kan. Memorial contributions may be made to either the church or Delta Upsilon Fraternity Education Foundation, DU 8705 Founders Road, Indianapolis, IN 46268 (memo: Kansas State University Chapter). David was born Feb. 4, 1943, in Kansas City, Kan., to Michael and Barbara DeFeo. He was a 1961 graduate of Shawnee Mission East High School, attended Kansas State University receiving his degree in Veterinary Medicine in 1967. While at KSU, he was an active member of Delta Upsilon Fraternity. On July 27, 1969, David married the love of his life, Carolyn Smith in Kingman, Kan. David practiced veterinary medicine at Country Acres Small Animal Clinic and Kennel in Merriam, Kan., for 37 years. He was an avid reader, Civil War buff, and lover of all animals. David's number one hobby was enjoying and spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors include wife, Carolyn DeFeo; three daughters, Heather (Mike) Minor, Prairie Village, Heidi (Matt) Meyer, Chicago, Ill., and Erin (Trevor) Gustafson, Prairie Village; brother, Richard (Phyllis) DeFeo, Albuquerque, NM; seven grandchildren, Ryan, Lucy, Hailey, Eve, Elle, Molly, and Emery; and many other family and friends.
