Sarah Duncan Obituary

Sarah Duncan

Knoxville, TN

Sarah Elizabeth Jackson (Tootsie) Duncan, 82, began her new life with Jesus on May 20, 2015. She left this life peacefully at home with her family.

Sarah is preceded in death by husbands, David Alan Jackson, Sr., and Glen William (Dub) Duncan; parents, Earl L. and Edna Headrick Dunn; infant sister, Mary E. Dunn; foster daughter, Wanda Troutt; and mother-in-law, Pauline Duncan Carroll. She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, David Alan Jackson, Jr. and Julia Jackson; and son-in-law and daughter, Henry and Susan Jackson Burleigh, with whom she made her home; grandchildren, Michelle Smith and Barbara Ann Jackson Thrasher, Kristopher Rice, Hank, Tracy, Chris, and Tina Burleigh; special aunt, Betty Dixon; and special friend, Kenny Troutt; several beloved sisters and brothers-in-law, and cousins.

Sarah is a member of Sonlight Baptist Church in Halls, where she and Dub attended faithfully as long as their health allowed. Sarah was a member of the last graduating class of Knoxville High School and was an active member of the reunion committee until her stroke in 1996. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Caris Hospice for their loving, compassionate care and support during this last illness. Bethany and Shelia treated our mother like family and she loved them dearly. Special thanks to Melissa Wilson for the love and care, also.

A celebration of her life will be held at Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home on Saturday, May 23, 2015. The family will receive friends between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., with the funeral following at 7:00 p.m., Rev. Eddie Myers will officiate. A graveside service will be held on Sunday, May 24, 2015 at 4:00 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery on Tazewell Pike, Knoxville, TN. Condolences may be offered at www.berrylynnhurst.com.
