November 18, 1966 - September 15, 2016 "Momma P" Carol J. Perez, 49, passed away at her home in Industry, CA on Thursday, September 15, 2016. She was born November 18, 1966 to her parents Miguel Thomas Mejia and Betty Lee Burnett in Los Angeles, CA. She graduated class of 1984 from Arroyo High School in El Monte, and went on to earn a degree in Administrative Work. She began working at Industry Hills Expo Center in 1991, where she would become manager and operator. There she met her husband David and they were married on Valentine's Day of 1998. Raising two boys, Manuel and Michael she became very involved in all of their activities and schooling. Carol loved music and dancing, and being a former band kid herself, devoted much time and many weekends to the Bishop Amat Band program while son Manuel was a member. Among her many talents, Carol was a wonderful homemaker and entertainer with a striking sense of style. She loved to cook and have family and friends over. She pulled out all the stops for holidays and birthdays making everyone of them unique and fun. Her captivating smile and interesting conversations made everyone feel welcomed and loved. She took great joy in making all of her family feel special and made her friends like family. Putting her business acumen, fierce sense of competition, and love of people together, Carol was instrumental in bringing a new level of speedway racing to So Cal. Wednesday Summer nights were race nights, and Carol made sure the "Industry Racing" brand meant family fun where she was always on hand with her smile. She is survived by her husband David, sons Manuel and Michael, sister Sally (Sean), brothers Michael and Ryuchi, mother Betty and father Miguel, 6 nieces, 4 nephews and the rest of us poor souls that will never be the same without her. Rosary will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 550 S. Glendora Ave., La Puente, Monday, October 3rd at 7pm.with services to follow on October 4th at 10am. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to the Bishop Amat High School Band Program, Carol J. Perez Memorial Fund.
