Sharron Louise Hinkey

May 20, 1947 – September 9, 2015

Sharron Louise Hinkey passed away peacefully in her Long Beach home on September 9, 2015. Known by her many close friends as "Scottie," she was a dedicated and committed worker and member of the Long Beach community. She led the restoration effort of Rose Park, was a counselor of Leadership Long Beach, led community workshops at the city's Neighborhood Long Beach program and was active with several local art agencies. Scottie was among the inaugural freshman class at the University of California, Irvine. While a student at UCI, she met her beloved husband, Douglas M. Hinkey. Following graduation, Scottie was employed as the manager of the marketing department at the UCI School of Fine Arts until her retirement 35 years later.
A memorial service for family and friends will be held on Sunday, October 25, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Long Beach's Rose Park, located at the corner of Orizaba Avenue and 8th St., Long Beach, CA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Rose Park Neighborhood Association Scottie Hinkey Memorial, 3350 E. 7th Street #140 Long Beach, CA 90804. Scottie I will always have fond memories of you and the girls or should I say pups you're one of my first pet sitting clients in Long Beach..adopted sweet little Izzy and gave her the best home a dog could ask for.my heart is broken finding out that you have passed. I know you will be an angel to all the four legged friends,that are waiting for the rest of us over the rainbow bridge .. See u someday my friend. SHAN
