Abundio Leviste

LEVISTE - Abundio of Saskatoon, SK passed away at St. Paul's Hospital on Saturday, August 12, 2006 at the age of 90. He is survived by his wife of almost 67 years, Severa; children, Cely, Luming, Tina (Romeo) Magsino, Lito (Matilde), Nestor (Mercedita), and Delia; fifteen grandchildren; six greatgrandchildren; and daughters-in-law, Juliana (Orlando) and Melija (Leonardo). Abundio was predeceased by his children, Leonardo, Orlando, Eluterio, Ester and Luisa and Merlita as young children; and all his eleven brothers and sisters. Abundio was born on May 20, 1916 and worked for the Philippine Government for thirty-four years as foreman. Abundio married Severa Villegas on August 28, 1939. The family immigrated to Canada in March 1979. He loved cooking, visiting and watching baseball. He was a very religious man, always attending church daily whenever he could. He was a kind, loyal and understanding father; his memory will always linger in our hearts. A special thank you to all doctors and nursing staff on 6th Floor at St. Paul's Hospital for the excellent care they gave Abundio, especially Dr. Muller, Dr. Bruce Reeder and Dr. Basi. Also to all doctors in Family Medicine who looked after him. Visitation and viewing will be held at PARK FUNERAL CHAPEL (311 Third Avenue North, Saskatoon, SK) on Monday, August 14, 2006 and Tuesday, August 15, 2006 from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. and a Vigil for Abundio on Tuesday, August 15, 2006 at 7:30 p.m. with Rev. Fr. Gerard Dewan presiding. Rite of Committal will take place in Himlayan Filipino Catholic Cemetery, Malvar, Batangas, Philippines. Arrangements entrusted to Greg Lalach, 244-2103.
