Carol Mae DeHart went to be with the Lord surrounded by her loving family on January 25th, 2018 at 7:40pm at home in Cottonwood, California. Carol was born on September 25th, 1937 to Anna Ruth and Leslie Peterson in Vermillion, South Dakota. When Carol was a young girl the family moved to California and she spent her childhood in Bellflower, California. Carol graduated from Bellflower High School and went on to attend Sonoma State University and Shasta College where she received her BSN in Nursing, Public Health Nursing Certificate, AA in General Education and AA in Nursing. At the age of 50 Carol fulfilled her lifelong dream of joining the United States Army and served as Nurse in place of active duty that went overseas in Desert Shield and was active during Desert Storm. She retired from the Army as a 1st Lieutenant. In her free time Carol enjoyed spending time with her family, sewing and quilting, baking, working on her farm (especially pulling weeds) and caring for her animals. Carol is preceded in death by her Parents Anna Ruth and Leslie Peterson, her sister Phyllis Thompson and daughter Karen Ciardi. She leaves behind her loving husband Bill DeHart, Daughters Rebecca Johnson (Tim Wance) Sandee Shannahan, Mary Ann Thomas, Kathy Parsons and her sons Steven Parsons, John Parsons, Craig DeHart, Jim DeHart. Carol also leaves 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren who she loved dearly. Carol Mae DeHart was an absolutely beautiful soul that touched the lives of everyone she knew in extraordinary ways. She could strike up a conversation with a perfect stranger and make them feel like a treasured friend. She always had a warm smile and kind words to brighten your day. There will be a viewing on Monday February the 5th from 5:00-8:00pm. Carol's celebration of life is scheduled for Tuesday February the 6th at 10:00 AM at Hoyt-Cole Chapel of The Flowers 816 Walnut Street Red Bluff, California 96080 with a reception following. Flower arrangements can be sent to Hoyt-Cole Chapel of the Flowers. The family has requested for attendees to wear a shade of blue to the service as it was Carol's favorite color. The memory of a good person is a blessing Proverbs 10:7
