Charles Heskett Obituary

Published by The Chronicle from Oct. 4 to Oct. 5, 2007.
Centralia resident Charles (Chuck) Allen Heskett, 78, put his hand in the Lord's as he peacefully passed away at home, with his loving wife by his side, on Sept. 27.
Chuck was born in Watertown, SD to Hubert and Doris Heskett on May 16, 1929. The oldest of three children, Chuck unwittingly sacrificed a great deal, after his father's death, to aid his mother with his two younger siblings. He served in the US Navy as an Electronics Technician First Class and was honorably discharged in 1951. He resided in San Diego until he moved to Washington where he gained employment with ITT Technical Institute. After retiring in 1984, he became a dedicated volunteer to AARP and worked part time for H&R Block.
Chuck married June Stender in 1980 and accepted Jesus as his personal Lord and Savior. His family wrote: Chuck was a very spiritual, kind and gentle man, who would lend a helping hand to anyone who was in need. He was a gentleman of honesty, integrity and true loyalty to those he loved. He enjoyed camping in the great outdoors with his RV. He would also challenge anyone to his favorite game of cribbage and loved to sit at his computer for hours.
His two great loves were his dear wife June and his little dog "Bandit", who went with them everywhere. June said, "He was the most wonderful husband in the world. Our best times were when we would just snuggle by the fire and share our deepest feelings, hopes and dreams. Our deep love for each other was the greatest gift of all and a true reflection of Gods love for us."
Chuck is preceded in death by his parents: Hubert and Doris; his sister, Patricia Payne; and grandson, Ryan Heskett. He is survived by his wife June; his brother Jim Heskett; sister-in-law Joy; his sons Brian, Scott, Jeff and Todd; daughter's-in-law, Diane George and Ruthann Brown; and several grandchildren.
A celebration of Chuck's life will be held on Saturday, Oct. 6, at 2:00 PM at the Calvary Assembly of God Church, 302 E. Main St. Centralia, WA

It was a privilege to know Chuck and see his great love for his wife and for his Lord. We're glad that one day we'll see him again when we all get to heaven! He was a wonderful man and will be missed by those who loved him.
