Mrs D. Allen
The death has occurred on April 4th 2010 of Mrs Doreen Allen formerly of The Old Vicarage, Newcastle Avenue, Worksop, following a sudden illness in Bassetlaw Hospital aged 82. She leaves her sons Tony and Andrew, two grandchildren and two great grandchildren and had lived in the area for over 60 years.
In the month November 1927 Doreen was born in Northern Ireland and educated locally in Moneymoor. As a young woman, and along with her two sisters, Elsie and Margaret, Doreen travelled to England to find work. She tried her hand at various jobs but settled to running a guesthouse on Carlton Road around 30 years. Doreen finally retired from work in November 2004.
Her funeral was held on the 4th of April with a service at St John's Church which was conducted by Rev Neil Hogg, cremation followed at Sherwood Forest Crematorium, Ollerton.
