Douglas (Doug) Gene Aman of Calgary, beloved husband of Annie Pratt, passed away with family by his side on Saturday, March 24, 2012, at the age of 67 years. Doug was employed by RGO Office Supplies in Calgary for many years and was in administration for West Jet for ten years. He retired in 2010. During his lifetime, Doug had a very special canine companion named Eno. He was a beautiful German Shepherd who won several awards at various dog shows. Eno was dearly missed upon his passing. Music was Doug's passion in life and he played steel guitar for 45 years. Doug's first stage appearance took place in 1967 with Ron Larson's band. In his first band, Chuck Lawson's band of Lethbridge, Doug played Fender 400 steel guitar. Over the years, he played steel guitar with many bands including, Lynn Anderson in the U.S.A., Dick Dameron, BJBird at the Cross Roads in Calgary, Gary Buck, Michelle Wright and Brian Sklar. Doug was a well respected musician amongst his peers. He also attended numerous Canadian and U.S.A. steel guitar conventions. Doug taught steel guitar lessons as well and his students attest that he was a very gifted musician who was generous with his time, knowledge and enthusiasm for the steel guitar. His love for music was evident in his sharing with others. Doug will be remembered for his joy filled laughter, his sense of humor and story telling. As one of Doug's good friends said, "There is going to be some great pickin' in Heaven from now on". The Funeral Service will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Julianna Wehrfritz-Hanson officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery.
