Fred Warren Hosfelt passed into the unseen temple and joined his wife of 53 years Carol J (Grace) Hosfelt Septtember 17, 2016 at 10pm in Dallas, Texas. He was born in Coshocton, Ohio the son of Fred Warren Hosfelt and Florence Buhl (Hawkins) Hosfelt.
He was a graduate of Coshocton High School & attended Ohio State University. Mr. Hosfelt was co /owner & operator of Canal Days Antiques in Roscoe Village for many years. He was a member of the 37th reconnaissance company 37th Infantry Division & served in Korea in 1952 & 1953, where he was attached to the 64th Tank Battalion Recon 3rd Infantry Division. He was active in the veterans’ affairs & was Past Commander of the VFW Post 182, American Legion Post 65, member of Amvets post 36, Past Commander of the Coshocton County Honor Guard & the Coshocton County Veterans Council where he held many offices. He attained the Rank of 1st Lieutenant. Mr. Hosfelt was a Mason for 40 years & was Master of Coshocton Lodge No.96 Past Watchman of Sheppard’s of the White Shrine Lodge No 56. Member of Coshocton Chapter No 50, Coshocton Commandry No 63, Demolay Council. He was an Advisor to Jobs Daughters, Past President of the local Shrine Club & member of the Aladdin Shrine AAOMS of Columbus. He was a lifelong member of Prairie Chapel Church where he served on the Board of Directors & was Choir Director at one time.
Mr. Hosfelt was an avid Hunter, Fisherman, Golfer, Traveler, and Collector of Coshocton Memorabilia & liked a good party.
He was a volunteer at Autumn Care Health where he called Bingo.
Mr. Hosfelt was Plant Engineer at Stone Container Corp (Smurfit/ Stone) retiring in 1995 of the Institute of Electrical & Electronic Engineers. On June 23, 1956 he married Carol Jean (Grace) his beloved wife of 53 years who preceded him in passing.
He is survived by his daughter Kristi Kay (Cary) Kyhl of Grapevine, Texas. Two grandchildren, Colleen Marie Kyhl & Curtis Christian Kyhl of Grapevine, Texas nieces and nephews and many good friends.
Family suggest donations be made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

So sorry to hear of the passing of Fred. I will never forget his leadership and guidance at Stone Container when we worked together. Rest in Peace Fred.

So Sorry to hear of your loss. Fred along with several other members of the 37th Recon group made me an "Honorary Member" and were so kind to even invite me to several of their activities at the time. I was so honored by Fred's kindness. He was such a giving individual when it came to helping Veterans in so many ways. He will be greatly missed.

Fred was very involved with the Veteran community in Coshocton County. He helped on the county KIA Bridge project and the Korean War Memorial on the Court House Square. Fred was one of a kind. My condolences to the family. He will be missed.
