U. S. Army Retired Cpt.George Tobias III, age 60, passed away peacefully in his home on Wednesday, May 23, 2018. He was born on November 17, 1957, in Ft. Benning, Georgia to George Tobias Jr. and Doris Irene Laney.
George was a driven and accomplished man achieving many degrees in his life. He graduated from Marywood College Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelors of Science. He received an Associates degree in Specialized Business from The Center for Degree Studies. He also attended The United States Army Officer Candidate school and graduated, becoming a Communications Officer. After retirement he decided to become a teacher and graduated from the Troops to Teachers program with
A teaching degree specializing in middle school English.
He was in the military for over 20 years, and was very proud of his service as a Vietnam era veteran. George entered the service as an enlisted soldier but climbed the ranks achieving the Rank of Captain. He was Airborne and special forces. He was a company commander for the 82nd Airborne in Fort Bragg. He oversaw the Champus changeover in Langley Air Force base. Serving as a jungle expert for the 82nd Airborne he was rapid deployable serving in many campaigns including Panama, Nicaragua, and Honduras. He received many awards for his service. He was in the Iraq war, Operation Iraqi Freedom. George had a tour in Korea as well serving on the DMZ as their communications Officer. He retired honorably on December 20, 1996.
George Tobias III is survived by his wife of 25 years, Jennifer Dayne Tobias (Smith) His children: George Tobias IV, Christina Tobias Dior, John Michael Tobias, and Sarah Nicole Tobias. His sisters; Rose Stachan and Mary Ann Tobias. His brother, John Michael Tobias. He has ten Grandchildren: Emily Baccante, Kevin Austin Swanson, Michael Anthony Dior II, Andrea Michelle Dior, Madison Skye Tobias, George Tobias V, Kaila Elizabeth Tobias, Christina Tobias Dior, Dylan Thomas Tobias, and Emma Jule Tobias.
He is preceded in death by his father, George Tobias Jr, his mother Doris Irene Laney, and his sister Brenda Robinson.
He was a great man, a loving husband, a doting father, and a faithful friend. He will be greatly missed by many.

CAPTAIN GEORGE TOBIAS 111 Retired I AM HIS MATERNAL AUNT HE WAS BORN IN COLUMBUS GEORGIA HE CAME HOME TO SEE THE FAMILY WHEN HE COULD TWO YEARS AGO HE AND 8 OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS WENT ON A CRUISE TO THE BAHAMA ISLAND HE WAS ON CRUTCHES BUT HE KEPT UP AND WE ALL HAD A WONDERFUL TIME SEEING THE SITES GOD CREATED HE WAS VERY SPECIALTO MY HUSBAND TERRY AND I HE WAS A GOD FEARING MAN WE TALKED ABOUT THE LORD MANY TIMES ON LINE AND IN PERSON I WAS WATCHFUL AND ALWAYS BEING HIS AUNT HE LOVED ME SINCE HE WAS BORN AND I HIM HE WAS A GREAT MAN HAD MORE KNOWLEDGE AND SAW MANY A PLACE WHILE IN THE MILITARY HE HAS OVER 600 JUMPS UNDER HIS BELT WAS SPECIAL FORCES HE LOVE HIS WIFE AND FAMILY VERY MUCH WE WILL MISS HIM IT HURTS TO GIVE HIM UP BUT I KNOW HE S REJOICING WITH LOVED ONES GONE ON BEFORE HIM THE INVENTER OF AUTO MADE OUR CHRISTMAS S SPECIAL AND TRULY LOVE HELPING OTHERS WITH NOTHING HE WAS OVERFLOWING WITH THE TRUE MEANING OF CHRISTMAS HE CAME DOWN 2 YEARS AGO AND WENT AND GOT THE CHRITMAS TREE AND HELP DECORATE IT I LOVE HIS FAMILY BECAUSE THEY ARE MINE TOO REST IN PEACE GEORGE WILL JOIN YOU IN A SHORT SPAN PART OF MY HEART WENT WITH YOU I WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER YOU ALWAYS LOVE AUNT JOYCE & UNCLE TERRY AND FAMILY
