Jack Horricks was a lovely man. His keen and thoughtful intellect was always graced by his warm humanity. Jack was "with it" in every sense of that phrase. It was a singular thing, that, even in his nineties, you always had real conversations with Jack and about remarkable things -- from metaphysics to current affairs. His was a truly open mind. There was a touch of the poet in Jack, too. I'm glad I got to spend more time with him over the last few years. My fondest memory is of Jack at the Hyack parade a few years ago, jumping up from his lawn chair in front of Marce's and John's home in New Westminster, with his enthusiastic "go girls" to the passing floats, and with the aforementioned girls stepping out of the parade to come and shake his hand. I will miss him.

Uncle Jack took our family into his care when our Dad died. Our conversations over the phone were always joyous and interesting. He was so keen to know about our lives and what we were doing and how everyone in the family was. His love was sent to us in this way and we all felt it.
Our Dad would amuse us with tales of them both when they were boys together.
Much love to you all,
Tina x

Uncle Jack was a very special part of my family. We would have lovely conversations over the telephone and laughed a lot. I will never forget my visit to Canada and those memories will stay with me forever. This is a very sad time for you all but there will be a great deal of happiness too. Uncle Jack was a wonderful person who gave love and inspiration to all who had the good fortune to know him.

To Colin, Rob, Elaine, Marcia and families;
Great photo gallery, loved the one of Uncle Jack in a kilt. We have so many memories from his Alberta visits-plus the weddings, anniversaries and funerals that he took part in. Our thoughts are with you-

What a emotional life story is the photo gallery. We will certainly miss Uncle Jack. I was glad I was able to see Thailand with Malita and Jack.
We are sorry we are unable to attend the memorial service. Hopefully we will be able to see the family this summer. All the best to the family.

If you were to refer to Jack as a "scholar and a gentleman", well- you would have hit the nail right on the head.

Karen and I loved the small time we shared with uncle Jack,when we visited Canada a few years ago. It was for me a full circle and a homecoming when we spent time with all our cousins,aunty Ruth and uncle Jack.I will miss him.

We will dearly miss Uncle Jack. He always phoned before Christmas to inquire about the family. Am going to miss that phone call. Love the photo gallery. Thank you for sharing these pictures. Our love to the family at this time of sorrow.
