My sympathies to the Thome family.

Father John Thome was a beloved pastor at Mount Pleasant Sacred Heart when I was in school. With a busy schedule, he somehow managed teaching senior class religion at the Academy. He always had such a kindly smile. My parents loved him! I was blessed to visit with him a few times at St. Anns Home this past year. May God grant him the joy of eternal life - - a rich reward for 71 years as a holy priest.

We met Fr. John at St. Ann's, where my husband Dennis lived until his passing October 30. I will remember Fr. John's warm smile, booming voice while celebrating and assisting at Mass, his piano playing in the afternoon, and his gentle, cheerful presence. He was an inspiration and a blessing to us and will be missed. My sincere condolences to his family. God's peace.

He was such a special Priest and person. I was new to the area and the Church when we first met. I will never forget him. He was my Priest when I joined the Church, when I was married 40 years ago and when our first child was Christened. I know I will see him again!
