Judith Marie (Judy): CNZM
It is with great sadness that the family announce that Judy passed away peacefully at Christchurch Hospital after battling ill health for a number of years. Loved wife of the late Alec. She is survived by her three sons; Stuart, Michael and Grant, and their partners; Lynne and Diane, and grandchildren; Laura, Alex and Ryan. A champion for aged people care, Judy was the former patron of the New Zealand Society of Diversional Therapy and Recreational Therapists, a life member of Alzheimer's New Zealand, and worked with a wide variety of other organisations in the aged care sector. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer's Society would be much appreciated. A private service honouring Judy's remarkable life has been held. I am extremely sorry to be posting this message so late. I found out Judy had died while searching for her name in order to clarify some information for Music Therapy New Zealand. I am writing the history of the society, and remember Judy as a dedicated and committed contributor at branch and national levels. I was also fortunate to have the opportunity to do music therapy her at Parklands Hospital. In June last year, I became an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to music therapy and Judy rang me to congratulate me. It seems she must have been very ill at the time, but in true Judy form did not allow that to become the focus of our conversation. Please accept this message of thanks for Judy's life, and sympathy to the family from me personally, and from Music Therapy New Zealand.
