GREENBAUM, June Antoinette (Tosca) June "Julie" Greenbaum, 83, beloved wife of Lee Greenbaum, passed away peacefully at her daughter's and son-in-law's home in Canton on Sunday (August 20, 2006). Born at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford on June 10, 1923, she was the daughter of Gertrude Ashley and Michael Tosca. Following her graduation from Bulkeley High School in 1941, she proudly completed several courses at Northwest Community College and then worked as a medical secretary for six years at CT Mutual Insurance Co. Wary of the fact that he could not dance, June hesitantly accepted a blind date with Lee Greenbaum in January 1946. After teaching him a few steps, she married him on Nov. 2, 1946, and the date has continued for over 60 years. Together they raised five children in their Collinsville home, where they lived happily and created countless memories. June's world revolved around her family and friends. Her favorite days were those that included weddings, graduations, music recitals, Bah Mitzvahs, anniversaries, birthdays, housewarmings, and any other event that celebrated the people in her life. She especially loved holidays because they brought her family together; she began planning each summer for the impending annual Christmas gala. Of course, her instinctual joie de vivre enabled her to consider any day a celebration if it involved shopping and a good happy hour. Her love of life and sense of humor stayed with her even during her last days. June's proud legacy is her five children: Jim Greenbaum and her wife Suzanne of Little Compton, RI and Charlestown, MA; Lynn Miner and her husband Jack of Canton, Dr's Nancy Berlin and her husband Arnie of New Rochelle, NY; Jeffrey Greenbaum and his wife Cathy of Simsbury, and Richard Greenbaum and his fiancee Linda of Winsted; and her 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her three siblings: Ruth Gherard of Newington, Robert Tosca of Hartford, and Jeanette Tosca of Hartford. Her family extends special thanks to the kind and skilled people of the ICU and Oncology Departments of the UCONN Medical Center, Cherry Brook Health Care Center, and Connecticut Hospice. A Service will be held Wednesday, August 23, 12 Noon, at Vincent Funeral Home, 120 Albany Turnpike, Canton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to June's favorite place in town: the Canton Public Library, 40 Dyer Ave., Canton, CT 06019.

To the Greenbaum family - Our thoughts are with you at this time of your loss. Many happy memories, including the days of babysitting across the street.....lots of changes on Thayer Avenue recently. My Mom is near me here in VT now - just celebrated her 96th birthday, but is very fragile.
May you all have wonderful, lasting memories to carry you through the future.
Warmly, Ginny (Davis) Gometz

Lee, Jim and Lynn,
Where has the time gone? It only seems a short while ago that I was teaching in Canton and met the Greenbaum family. Your wife Lee and your mom Jim and Lynn was a wonderful person. She always had a smile for me. I still remember the poker games with your dad at your home with your mom making sure we had something to snack on. I am so sorry for your loss and you are in my thoughts and prayers.
