Mary Ann Sheppard

Mary Ann Sheppard, 76, passed away March 16, 2008, at Peachtree Christian Hospice in Duluth, Ga. Mary Ann was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Preston R. Miller, of Atlanta, Ga. A graduate of Washington Seminary, she attended the University of Georgia and was a member of the Phi Mu Sorority. Mary Ann was a wonderful person and a true lady who was loved by all who knew her. She loved entertaining and cooking for friends and family and was an avid bridge player. Her embrace of life and positive outlook, along with her courage and determination, were an inspiration to all who knew her.

Mary Ann is survived by her husband of 54 years, William D. Sheppard (Dan), and her son, William D. Sheppard III (Dan), his wife, Robin, and their children, Samantha and Shannon, of West Palm Beach, Fla. She is also survived by her son, Preston M. Sheppard, his wife, Kathee, and their children, Jessica and Preston, of Alpharetta, Ga., and her brother, Dr. Preston R. Miller, and wife, of Atlanta, Ga.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her daughter, Elizabeth Ann Sheppard (Lisa). Although Mary Ann will be greatly missed by her friends and family, we now rejoice in the completion of her journey to Heaven. The family will receive friends at Greenview Funeral Home in Florence, Ala., on Saturday March 22, at 10 a.m. A memorial service, led by longtime friend, the Rev. John J. McKell, will follow at 11 a.m. Those wishing to make donations may do so to the charity of their choice.
