MaryLou Fagerstedt 1932 ~ 2012 MaryLou Fagerstedt died Saturday, March 17, 2012 in a Boise hospital surrounded by family. MaryLou was the daughter of Taylor and Mary Clark, born on September 20, 1932 in Burley, Idaho. Eventually moving to Boise where she attended Boise Schools, graduating from Boise High in 1950. There she was actively involved as a drum majorette and was in the newspaper and also in a commercial proudly displaying her talents. She also attended Boise Jr. College for one year. MaryLou married Robert Shanahan in 1951 and had two daughters, Kathy and Bobbie. Later getting a divorce and remarrying in 1960 to Gordon Fagerstedt, whom passed away in 1994. She had her last relationship of several happy years with "Brig" Overgaard. MaryLou went to work for Mountain Bell in 1956, retiring from AT&T in 1985. She then went back to work at Boise State University, retiring from there in 1999. She had many close friends and memories from both employers, along with a nickname of "Whippy Chippy". She is survived by many friends. Her brother, TJ Clark and sister, Joanne Howard, both of Boise, ID. Her two daughters, Kathy Shanahan and her husband Scott Mathey of Brookings, OR. and Bobbie Sanchez of Boise, ID. She is also survived by her stepdaughter, Karen Overgaard; grandchildren, Angie Sanchez and her fiance Jason McArthur, David Sanchez and his longtime girlfriend, Teresa Kaminski, Tony Sanchez and his fiance Kindra Cruz; step granddaughter, Leila Overgaard, all of Boise, ID; her great grandchildren, Raven and River Sanchez-Kennedy, Sebastian and Braden Sanchez; and step great grandchild Axel Overgaard, all of Boise, ID. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. A special message from River Sanchez-Kennedy, "She was a good Great Grandma, I will miss making waffles with her, it sometimes feels like she is still around". Sebastian Sanchez, "She was always great company and fun to hang around with." Raven Sanchez-Kennedy, "When I was two years old, I couldn't pronounce Great Grandma, so I said GooGoo, ever since then we all have called her GooGoo. I will miss my GooGoo". The family would like to give special thanks to Lindy Smith, who gave her incredible care for the last year, so she was able to live at home. A viewing for MaryLou will be Thursday, March 22nd from 4-6 p.m. at Summers Funeral Home, Boise Chapel. Graveside services will be Friday, March 23rd at 11:00 a.m. at Dry Creek Cemetery.

Grandma I will miss you so much. I remember spending the night. Making chex mix. Watching movies. I can still picture you in my mind.

Aunt Marylou was one of our favorites! She loved being involved with her family, she never forgot a birthday, was always interested in our lives and loved the color purple. What an amazing influence she had on so many! We will miss her greatly, but we will never forget her.
