Inquisitive Discovery, A Reflective Sunset
Raul Aguilar
January 24, 2019
A kindred listening
A curious smile
An inquisitive discovery play in science
Quiet tears pray you are well
A reflecting sunset that is now i am
An aspire to be in ways you were
This entire music piece is an unedited reflect tribute to Rafael Manuel Pena, an endeared teacher and mentor at Jefferson High School and Maxine L. Silva Magnet High School (with exception for ten seconds at the one minute mark). A kindred listener, every engagement was a curious, inquisitive, and playful invitation to a discovery in the sciences.
The curiosity carried over the same summer lifting a few trigonometry and calculus books seeing new ideas and saying oh that nice... At age 15, my mind was kindling with curiosity of the sciences and remains fervently so to this day. In 1976, Rafael gave to me my first job working in his chemistry, electronics, and physics laboratory.
Thought to create this piece after awakening sad the past mornings. Any redeeming beauty of the piece may be healing from a deep sorrow upon learning of Rafael's passing.

Thank you all for your memories of our father. He so loved his family and his family of students too. He is already greatly missed but we take some comfort in knowing he made a difference in many people's lives. God Bless.

I am extremely saddened to hear of Mr. Pena's passing. He was an amazing teacher. He put up with so much from us in his class. He always made us laugh. He will truly be missed. May God bless you, Mr Pena.

Mr. Peña,
It seems like just yesterday that you took me under your wing and trained me to become a lab assistant for your Physics classes. I remember sitting in during your lectures once I completed my lab work and taking notes of what eventually helped me to ace your Physics class the following year.
I recall your love for coffee and every Christmas you'd look forward to your gift from me because it always contained some sort of coffee in it.
We were an amazing educator and had a way of teaching that made the course seem easy and interesting. You

Mr. Pena,
Sir, I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served with the U.S. Army during the Cold War. Millions of Americans slept safe at night because you and your fellow Servicemen stood ready to defend our Country. And to your Family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.

Mr.Peña was wonderful teacher and an even more amazing person. My best friend and I would hang out in his class every morning before school. We would always say we were the water girls to the chess team and he would always play along. I'm just sorry that I never got yo tell him how much I enjoyed him as a teacher! God bless you Mr. Peña and thank you for putting up with Becky and I throughout our high school years!

I am so sorry hearing that "Rafa" is not physically with us , however I am happy knowing he is on the way to the Lords kingdom....
He was always a kind person with all of the Aguascalientes, MX relatives........He "served" as a great reference and role model for most of us that became engineers or grab any other U-degree.
I do rememeber the great moments we spent with him Chela and Angie during the summer seasons in Aguascalientes..........
God bless you "Rafa" , I will always remember you.........
