Reverend Arnold Lee Hancock, age 92, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 2, 2023. He was born in Jackson County Alabama on May 8, 1931 to the late Homer Arnold Hancock and Dora Houston Hancock.
Rev. Hancock served in both the US Army and the Alabama National Guard. He was called to preach in 1957 and ordained in 1975. He served as a pastor and Bishop for sixty-six years. He began his ministry in 1957 in Harvey IL. He helped build and pastor many Church of God churches in the Chicago area. Rev. Hancock moved to North Carolina in 1975 and pastored numerous churches in the state. He later retired in 1993 and following retirement he spoke and filled in at various churches. He was a current member of the Nealsville Church of God. He served as the hospital Chaplin for over twenty-five years. Being a musician, Ham Radio operator and photographer was a few of his many hobbies. He was known as a Christ loving husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by all of his former members, family and friends.
Survivors include his wife of seventy-four years; Edna Cornelison Hancock; five children, Juanita Ludford, Larry Hancock (Wanda), Jerusha Moss (Morris), Kevin Hancock (Patricia), Marvin Hancock (Iretha); twelve grandchildren, thirty-eight great grandchildren and numerous great-great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at the Nealsville Church of God with Revs. Larry Hunt, Jerry Cornelison Jr., Bishop Kip Box and Mr. Marvin Hancock. The family will be receiving friends from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Interment with military honors will follow the service at McDowell Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Gideons International.
