Rodger Swenson passed away on March 25, 2013 in Bradenton, FL. Memorial services will be held April 5, 2013 at 11:00 am at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 6311 Third Ave West, Bradenton, FL 34209; 941-792-5990. An additional memorial service will be held this summer (TBD) in his home town of Sister Bay, WI.

Survived by his wife, Carole, his sons, Dan and William Swenson, step children Karen, David and Andrew Swenson, and Jeanne (Rob) Wassem, as well as step grandchildren Anne Swenson; Matthew, Lauren and Katie Wassem; Dan, Sam and Ellen Perry; and great granddaughter Kali Hopkins. Predeceased by his first wife Patricia Fischer Swenson and sister Marilyn (Don) Brouwer.

Retired Navy Veteran who served in the Korean War upon the USS Saipan aircraft carrier. A born entrepreneur, he established Arrow Electric in 1966, built and operated the Edge of Town Motel, was owner/operator of Island View Cottages for many years, and ran the Swenson Farm and cherry business -- all in Sister Bay, WI. Founding member of the Nor Dor Hunting Lodge and deeply committed volunteer for the Sister Bay Historical Society and Anderson House. Member of the American Legion and Lion's Club. Traveled the world, loved to ski, hunt, fish, boat, bike. His love of life and fun spirit will be greatly missed.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shepherd of the Bay Lutheran Church, 11836 Wisconsin 42, Ellison Bay, WI 54210, or the Sister Bay Historical Society, P.O. Box 34, Sister Bay, WI, 54234 to preserve the history of his Swedish-American heritage.

Dear Carole and Family, We were saddened to hear of Rodger's death. He was a joy to be around and we shall long remember his heritage in Sister Bay, Wisconsin. Much love to you all, Dale and Karen Swenson
