LAKE CITY " Mrs. Vela Mae Knight, age 82, died Friday, July 29, 2005 at a Florence hospital after an illness.
Funeral service will be held 4pm Sunday, July 31, 2005 at the St. John United Methodist Church, 619 South Green Road, Lake City, with burial in the church cemetery directed by Floyd Funeral Home of Olanta. Visitation will be Saturday, July 30, 2005 from 7pm - 9pm at the funeral home.
Mrs. Knight was born in Clarendon County, South Carolina a daughter of the late Covington Raulston McKenzie and Queen Esther Driggers McKenzie. She was a member of the St. John United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women of the church.
She is predeceased by an infant son; a sister, Bernice (Ernest) Bolchoz; two brothers, C. R. (Eva) McKenzie, Jr. and Hagood (Dean) McKenzie.
She is survived by her husband, Frank Melbourne Knight of Lake City; a daughter, Barbara (James L. Jr.) Knight Flowers of Manning; a son, Don Melbourne (Cindi) Knight of Lake City; two sisters, Bonnie Floyd of Charleston, and Ethaline (Lamar) Driggers of Lake City; two brothers, Dexter (Elsie) McKenzie and Kenneth (Bobbie) McKenzie all of Lake City; three grandchildren, James Lee (Kathy) Flowers, III, Lana (Glenn) Flowers Elliott; Mary Tiffany Knight; three great-grandchildren, Taylor Leigh Flowers, Ava Grace Elliott, Olivia Gray Elliott.
