William F. Schunemann, a longtime resident of Braintree, died peacefully, Monday, March 25, 2024 at Southwood at Norwell Nursing Center, at the age of seventy-eight.

William was born in Lynn, to the late Arthur T. and Dorothy (Foley) Schunemann. Raised in Peabody, he was a graduate of Bishop Fenwick High School, Class of 1963. He earned his Bachelor degree from Northeastern University in 1968 and a Master of Business Administration from Northeastern University in 1985.

He lived in Braintree for the past forty-seven years.

Bill was a disabled United States Army veteran, having served honorably in the Vietnam War. He received the National Defense Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and 2 O/S bars.

Bill was employed as an accountant. He began his career with Haskins & Sells in Boston before transitioning to the architectural industry. After earning his MBA, he went on to work in the healthcare industry. He had been retired for many years.

He was a boating enthusiast and with the help of his brothers and close friends sailed his 32-foot Friendship sloop out of Tern Habor Marina in Weymouth. Bill was a sports fan. He loved the Tom Brady years and also attended many home opening games of the Boston Red Sox. He also enjoyed going to the movies, eating out, playing cards, especially cribbage, and most of all, visiting with family and friends.

Bill was a kind and gentle person with a good sense of humor. He will be greatly missed.

Beloved husband for forty-eight years of Carol A. (Sullivan) Schunemann.

Devoted brother of Michael Schunemann and his wife Jennifer of Winter Haven, Fla., Daniel Schunemann and his wife Marcia of Hernando, Fla., Janet Cole of Mount Holly, Vt., and Peter Schunemann and his wife Mary Ann of Hollis, N.H.

Dear brother-in-law of Catherine Riley of Quincy, Teresa Cook of Weymouth, the late Mary Forrester, and the late John Sullivan.

Bill is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Memorial Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Trinity Parish in Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 227 Sea Street, Quincy, on Wednesday, May 15, at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Inurnment, with miliary honors, to follow at Mount Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy.
