Patricia Slattery Obituary

ADRIAN - Sister Patricia Cecile Slattery, formerly known as Patricia Jean Slattery, died on April 17, 2016, at the Dominican Life Center in Adrian, Mich. She was 87 years of age and in 69th year of her religious profession in the Adrian Dominican Congregation.

Sister Patricia was born in St. Joseph, Mich., to Clifford and Opal (Taylor) Slattery. She graduated from St. Joseph High School in St. Joseph, Mich., and received a Bachelor of Philosophy degree in English from Siena Heights College (University) in Adrian, Mich.
Sister spent 58 years ministering in education in St. Charles, Ill.; Georgetown and Aiken, S.C.; East Lansing, Flint and Detroit, Mich. She taught in the elementary grades at St. Scholastica School in Detroit for 26 years, and was the librarian for the primary grades for 12 years. Sister became a resident of the Weber Center Community in Adrian, Mich., in 2010.

Sister Patricia is survived by loving nieces and nephews.

Rite of Committal (burial) will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, April 18, 2016, in the Congregation cemetery. Memorial Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 26, 2016, at St. Catherine Chapel. The Ritual of Remembering will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, 2016, in the Rose Room of the Dominican Life Center.

Memorial gifts may be made to Adrian Dominican Sisters, 1257 E. Siena Heights Drive, Adrian, Mich., 49221. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Anderson Funeral Home, Adrian.
