LIMA — Marvel L. Schmidt 101, passed away August 10, 2018, at St. Rita's Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family.
Marvel was born July 30, 1917, in Continental, Ohio, to the late Vern and Flossie (Bibler) Schmidt.
Marvel was a 1935 graduate of Continental High School. She had worked at Lima Locomotive during WWII and had been a Rate Clerk at Continental Motor Freight for many years. In 1982 she retired from Physicians Inc. Marvel was able to remain independent and in her own home until her last day.
She is survived by her nieces Nancy Meuleman, of Bluffton, OH, Carole Zachrich, of Holgate, OH, Barbara Sybert, of Vaughnsville, OH, Margaret Hopkins, of Ottawa, OH, Beverly Rockhold, of Continental, OH, Linda Liffick, of Continental, OH, and Jane Harmon, of Oakwood, OH; and nephews Joe Schmidt, of Vaughnsville, OH and Mike Schmidt, of Defiance, OH; special friends David and Julie Lawrence;and those who helped care for her Cindy and Jack Leis, and Steve Cox.
She is preceded in death by her brothers Charles and Gerald Schmidt and a sister Mildred (Schmidt) Cox.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 14, 2018, at Chamberlain Huckeriede Funeral Home.
A funeral service will begin at 10 AM Wednesday, August 15, at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Allentown Cemetery.
