Dermot Quinn Obituary

Dermot Quinn
1924 - 2013

DRACUT -- Dermot Quinn, 89, a Dracut resident, and former resident of the Centralville section of Lowell, died peacefully on Thursday, October 31, 2013, at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House.

He was the loving husband of Eileen (O'Reilly) Quinn of Dracut who survives him.

Born in Dublin, Ireland on July 16, 1924 he was a son of the late James and Mary (Murphy) Quinn. Dermot was raised in Ireland alongside his five siblings. He married his beloved wife on June 8, 1955 and shortly after moved to Lowell and established his family.

Dermot made his living as a builder and carpenter. Carpentry was his occupation, hobby and passion.

Dermot was a faithful Christian who was a communicant of St. Michael Church in Lowell and most recently attended daily Mass in the Chapel at the former Saints Medical Center. He was an avid sports fan, having a fondness for soccer. His three grandchildren brought him so much joy and they were a very important part of his life.

Dermot held officer positions in both the Ancient Order of Hibernians and the Billerica Irish American Social Club.

In addition to his wife, Dermot is survived by his son, Dermot J. Quinn and his wife, Karen of North Chelmsford; three grandchildren, Kevin, Conor and Catherine Quinn, all of North Chelmsford; two sisters-in-law, Doreen Fitzsimons and her husband Thomas, and Patricia Treacy, all of Ireland; many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late John, James, Christopher, Frank and Carmel Quinn.

QUINN -- Relatives and friends are invited to his Life Celebration on Sunday November 3, 2013 in the McKENNA-OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME, 327 Hildreth Street, Lowell from 2 until 6 PM. Charlie & I often talk about our early days on Christian St. and the Quinns always come up in that conversation. We met Dermot when we came to see the house. The rest is history.
