Paul Quandt Obituary
He was born in Winchester on Nov. 30, 1967, son of Roger W. and Marcella P. (Pratz) Quandt of Hampton, N.H. He was raised in Wilmington and graduated from Wilmington High School in 1985, where he participated in track and played with the jazz band.
Mr. Quandt was an altar server for many years at St. Thomas Church in Wilmington.
Mr. Quandt had been a custom service manager at Scitex Co. in Oak Park for 17 years.
He moved to Groton 10 years ago, and was fondly known to many friends as "Q."
He was a skilled sky-diver who was involved in many competitions in the team-formation parachuting style of CRW (Canopy Relative Work). He was a member of the U.S. Parachute Team, and the Lake Wales Sky Diving Team, which is based in Florida. He was involved in international competitions, and this past spring was part of a parachuting team that claimed to have set a new world record for the longest working sequence in air of 2 minutes.
Mr. Quandt reportedly was a world champion several times, and became the current world champion at a sky-diving event in Moscow last month, according to family members. He was a sky-diving instructor and also took photographs and video of fellow divers while he also was parachuting.
Besides his parents, his survived by a dear brother and his wife, Roger W. Quandt Jr. and Whitney (Miller) Quandt of Wilmington. Mr. Quandt also leaves many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Beyond being a friend, Q instructed me in my initial skydiving training and then introduced me to CRW with his characteristic enthusiasm.
Although we did not keep in touch over the years, Q was someone who will always have a special place in my memory of those days skydiving at Turners Falls. He really embodied the soul and spirit of what skydiving is all about.
