W. Sullivan Obituary
JAFFREY, NH/ PEPPERELL: W. Francis Sullivan, Jr. 98, a former longtime Pepperell resident died Friday, June 16, 2023 at his home.
His wife of 68 years, Ann B. (Wheeler) Sullivan died in September 2019.
Mr. Sullivan was born in Nashua, NH, May 29, 1925, a son of William F. and Mary E. (Fallon) Sullivan and resided in Pepperell and Rindge, NH before moving to Jaffrey 14 years ago.
He was a 1943 graduate of Pepperell High School and continued his education at the former Burdette Business College in Boston.
As an adolescent, Fran became Pepperell's first Lowell Sun paperboy, growing his route to all of East Pepperell and a large portion of Pepperell itself. He earned several trips as a reward for the size of his route including to Philadelphia and Washington, DC.
A stand out athlete in high school in both baseball and basketball, Fran played baseball for the traveling team, The Hobos during WWII, and was a member of Pepperell's Green Waves travel basketball team.
He leaves three sons, David B. Sullivan of Townsend, Daniel B. Sullivan of Englewood, Florida, Timothy W. Sullivan of Lyndeborough, NH; a daughter, Sharon S. Vincent of Lunenburg; nine grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Joan M. Floyd in 2013 and was the brother of the late Joseph J. Sullivan of North Reading and Mary K. Wall of Pepperell.
Mr. Sullivan worked twenty five years as the Purchasing Director at New England Business Service in Townsend, retiring in 1989. Prior to that he worked in a similar capacity for 17 years at Bemis Brothers Bag Company in Pepperell.
Fran was the Treasurer for the North Middlesex School District at its inception in the early 1960's and served in that capacity for over 20 years. While residing in Rindge, Mr. Sullivan was known to be amongst the most faithful fans of the Franklin Pierce College Sports teams.
Calling hour will be held in the Anderson Funeral Home, 250 Main Street, Townsend on Saturday, July 15, from 10:00 - 11:00 AM. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM in the funeral home. Burial to follow at Pepperell Cemetery, 8 Park Street Pepperell.
