Janis Mackey

Janis Mackey LUBBOCK-Janis Mackey passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017. We will gather for fellowship and remembrance from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 8, 2017, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life of 69 years on Monday, Jan. 9, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at Lake Ridge Baptist Church. Janis Ann was born on July 5, 1947, to Roger and Mary Ellen (Lowe) Parchman in Ralls, Texas. Janis most and foremost was The Lord's servant. Janis loved her church. She was the organist and a longtime member of Lake Ridge Baptist Church. She received a bachelor's degree from Texas Tech in education. Janis worked for Traveler's Inn and later NTS Communications from Nov. of 1997, until she retired in Dec. of 2012. She enjoyed traveling with her dear friends with King's Highway and Bilbrey Tours. The greatest joy in her life was her grandchildren. She loved to talk about them, as they were her pride and joy. She is survived by her children, Doyle Mackey and wife, Susan; Bryan Mackey and wife, Nichole; grandchildren, Kyle Mackey, Heather Mackey, Meagan Mackey, and Madison Mackey. She is also survived by a niece, Barbara Baldwin and husband, John; great-nephew, Chase Andrews; great-niece, Grace Andrews; and other cousins that even though she did not see frequently, she thought of often. She is preceded in death by her parents, Roger Maurice and Mary Ellen Parchman; sister, Sue Ellen Wallace; and nephew, David Moore. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lakeridge Baptist Church WMA or the Plains Baptist WMA at 4601 82nd St, Lubbock, TX 79424.
