MI YI Obituary

MI KYEONG YI Mi Kyeong Yi, 55, passed away peacefully December 7, 2017, at Nathan Adelson Hospice, in Las Vegas, after a long and hard-fought battle with cancer. Mi was a long-time casino executive who worked at numerous properties on the Las Vegas Strip, ultimately closing her career with The Venetian Resort Hotel and Casino, where she "made her numbers" right up until her passing. She was a consummate professional but also a caring and generous person who treated everyone she met with respect and kindness. She was stoic in her appearance, never without her signature heels and bags, Mi was a beacon of fashion. Mi was a jet-setter who traveled often. She took trips both independently and with friends or colleagues, always making time to enjoy her business trips to the fullest. During her travels, she developed a great reverence for both the sea and the mountains. She often marveled at the surrounding landscape of Las Vegas. Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area was her favorite part of that beautiful landscape and why she loved living in Summerlin. She was preceded in death by her father; and one brother. Mi is survived by her mother; two brothers, one sister, their spouses; four nephews; and one niece, all of South Korea; and hundreds of friends both home and abroad. For many of us, her friends, Mi was family. She was a frequent fixture at birthdays, weddings and graduations for her friends' children, to many of whom she was "Auntie Mi." Most of all, she was loved. A celebration of life will be held near her birthday in January 2018. Please contact [email protected] for details. We ask that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to either The Sierra Club Foundation www.sierraclubfoundation.org/ or The Cancer Research Institute www.cancerresearch.org/

Not sure what to say?

I found out about Mi Yi much too late for proper condolences. I'm still in denial; she was such a perfect lady, always with a smile, making you feel she cared. My prayers were with her family asking to help them through this difficult time. I wrote two long messages, but both were somehow deleted each time. I loved you, Mi, and know 1,000 angels were waiting to hold your hand. No one will ever come close to you. You'll be in my thoughts and memories every day. All were fortunate to have you touch their lives. Love you always, Zola
