Jane McCants Obituary

Jane Doles McCants
October 16, 1935 - August 4, 2021
Fort Valley, Georgia - Jane Doles McCants, 85, died at her home, surrounded by her family, on Wednesday, August 4, 2021. Services will be held on Sunday, August 8, 2021, with visitation beginning at 1:00PM at Rooks Funeral Home, 213 West Church Street in Fort Valley. Facial coverings will be required and social distancing observed. Graveside services will follow at 3:00PM in Oaklawn Cemetery, 720 South Camellia Boulevard in Fort Valley with Rev. Ed McQueen officiating.
Born in Fort Valley to the late William Forrest Doles and Lucy Schofill Doles, Jane was a cheerleader for the Fort Valley Green Waves team. It was "Love at first sight" when she met her beloved husband of 67 years, Strib, and they were married on June 17, 1953. He always considered her the "Prettiest girl in Fort Valley". Together they raised four daughters, and volunteered at Beechwood School to help with any task they could. Jane retired from AT&T as a telephone operator, was a member of First Baptist Church of Fort Valley, enjoyed fishing, tending to her African violets, watching sports, especially the Atlanta Braves, and old westerns, and reading about history. She loved being with her family and cooking them some of her delicious creations.
She is survived by her daughters; Karen Easler (Mike), Keith Taylor (Steve), Kim Wilson, and Kris Taylor; grandchildren; Kevin Easler, Brittany Cooper (Patrick), Claire Clark (Jason), Matt Taylor (Mallory), Lauren Barker (Keith), Will Patterson (Harlie), and Slade Taylor; great-grandchildren; Charlie Easler, Emily Easler, Addy Kate Cooper, Lucy Cooper, Libby Clark, Logan Clark, Beckham Taylor, Emma Kate Barker, and Easton Barker; brother, Jack Doles (Bonnie); sister-in-law, June Doles; caretakers; Brenda Gibson, Betty Barber, and Gina James; her devoted dog "Peanut"; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Strib; brothers; Donnie Doles and Johnnie Frank Doles, and sisters; Anne Doles Duke and Evelyn Doles Wilson.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Fort Valley or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Rooks Funeral Home in Fort Valley is in charge of arrangements.

Dear Family, I worked with Jane many years ago at Woolfolk Chemical Company. I always thought so much of her. She was such a kind lady. She will be missed.
