June 8, 1946 - April 15, 2017
Jeffersonville, GA- Joseph "Joe" Wayne Barton passed away on April 15, 2017. A celebration of his life and reception will be held on Sunday, April 30, 2017 at 1:00PM at Hart's Mortuary at the Cupola. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pine Pointe Hospice, 6261 Peake Road, Macon, Georgia 31210.
Joe was predeceased by his parents, James Columbus Barton and Bessie Viola Barton and stepmother, Mary Barton. He started working from a young age as an auto parts sales representative, laborer at a cotton mill, box manufacturing plant worker and then worked for over 30 years at Brown & Williamson. He loved hunting, tinkering, fishing and gardening.
Joe is survived by his wife Louise Ellene Barton; sons, David Barton (Lynn) and Steve Barton (Wendy); brothers, John Barton (Barbara) of Monroe County and J.C. Barton (Margareet) of South Carolina; sister, Betty Mae Stephens (Jimmy – deceased) of Gray; step daughter, Sandra Middlebrooks; stepson, Joey; two grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and several step-grand and great grandchildren.
